'Money and Medicine' gives us an up close and personal look at over- diagnosis and treatment of our health care. It may cause some of us to alter our behaviors. The film discusses advanced directives, the pros and cons of routine diagnostic tests, and the importance of research and outcomes of all healthcare procedures.

With the Affordable Healthcare Act, we are now shifting our thinking and actions from access of care to cost of care. Medical care now consists of 17.3% of our domestic product. We pay more for medical care, but the US is 19th in the world for preventable death, 26th in life expectancy and 31st in infant mortality. An Illuminating Medical Documentary That Posits That True Reform Needs To Begin From Within
The issues presented in Roger Weisberg's new documentary "Money and Medicine" couldn't be more topical and relevant to modern times. For years, the notion of health care reform has been raging across the nation with government starting to take a more participatory role. While it is undeniable that something needs to be done to combat skyrocketing costs, different factions are at odds about a proposed solution. "Money and Medicine," in no way, presents the definitive answer to this dilemma. What it does do, however, is showcase many of the foibles within the system that we currently have the power to address. But while we have the power, perhaps we lack the motivation to really step in and make substantial changes. And should we? And do patients really want us to? I like that Weisberg has chosen to present the varying sides of the debate which makes "Money and Medicine" quite even handed.
