Awesome Science "John Day Fossil Beds"

Good information. Questionable presentation.
Critique of the Awesome Science video:
Explore John Day Fossil Beds

The study guide to this video tells its readers: "Secular scientists say that thousands of feet of basalt and ash layers, along with the erosion which carved them out, took many millions of years to form. As we look at the evidence, another explanation is possible - they were laid down and carved quickly as a result of the global Flood." What the audience will see are stunning rock layers in eastern Oregon and what they will hear is a clear explanation of the evolutionary vs. creationist viewpoints of how these beautiful monuments were formed.

Although the information is excellent, and probably best suited to high school students, the young home-schooled narrator, Noah Justice, tends to put off his audience. He talks constantly at such a high level of energy, emphasizing every word with no real break, that the audience feels it is being "shouted" at. He also seems a bit young and his...

Good Homeschool Science Supplement
I was given the opportunity to review Season 2 (episodes 4, 5, and 6) of the Awesome Science DVD series. Each video is 30-40 minutes long, and a study guide is available that includes extra information, vocabulary words, and quizzes.

The series is brought to us by Kyle Justice; and his 14 year old son, Noah, is the host.

These DVD's are fast-paced and interesting. Although, the vocabulary is a bit advanced for the younter audience, they are sure to be a pleaser for the Jr. High and High School age groups, and even adults. Younger students can also benefit just from watching and seeing the beauty of these fabulous locations on our earth.

For those who have never had a chance to see these parks up close and personal, this is a great alternative. I recommend them for anyone who wants to share how Creation Science and the truth of the Bible can be explained in the formations of these wondrous creations.

Awesome Series
Traveling is even better when you discover the evidence of biblical history and truth along the way. Hosted by 14-year-old homeschooler Noah Justice, his fresh approach to science and the Bible will get children more excited about the truth with each episode of Awesome Science.

My Thoughts:

My family is always excited to watch the Awesome Science series. This is an amazing series with a Biblical Worldview that will support the evidence of the flood.

The kids feel like they had a virtual field trip visiting the John Day Fossil Beds in northeastern Oregon. The sights are amazing. Seeing the large range of plant and animal fossils is exciting.
I would highly recommend this series if you are interested in teaching your children a Biblical view of science without dealing with evolution.

I was given the study guide to look through and review. I would say this is more suited for older kids/teens. I also feel that you can adjust it easily...
